Taranaki Air Ambulance Trust ( TAAT ) formed a partnership with the Taranaki Rescue Helicopter Trust ( TRHT ) to provide Air Ambulance services for the Taranaki District Health Board ( TDHB ).

Taranaki Air Ambulance Trust ( TAAT ) utilises a twin engine Piper Navajo operated by the New Plymouth Aero Club. The aircraft and pilots are available 24 hours a day 7 days a week at short notice.

The aircraft requires the same life support equipment as a normal road ambulance. This includes a defibrillator, oxygen, etc. A fully trained flight nurse always accompanies patients to their destination for patient comfort and ensure rapid response to any medical issues that may arise during transfer.
