Executive Committee

Goveranance of the New Plymouth Aero Club Inc is the resposibility of the New Plymouth Execuitve Committee consisting of a President, two vice presidents, Vice-Club Captain and 9 other members. These positions are elected by ballot at the Annual General Meeting held in June/ July of every year.

 

Mr Wayne Harrison - Chief Flying Instructor

Wayne Harrison learnt to fly in 1967, obtained his Commercial Pilot Licence in 1971 and his "C' Category Instructor Rating that same year.

 

 

 

In 1972 he joined the New Plymouth Aero Club as an Assistant Instructor beginning a long and continuous association with that Club and with sport aviation. By 1977 he was 'A' Category Instructor rated and Chief Flying Instructor as well as Manager of the Club.

 

 

 

Wayne has 18,000 flying hours in a wide range of General Aviation Aircraft. He is a General Aviation Flight examiner and can conduct the following:

 

 

PPL Flight Test, MEIR Conversion, Instructor Rating Renewals, Aerobatic Rating Issues, Instrument Rating Competency Check and ATO Comp Check - VFR and IFR.

 

 

Wayne leads a team of Instructors ensuring all our students are trained to the highest possible standards.

 

 

He has served as a Judge, Chief Judge, Aerobatic Judge and Officer-in-Charge at Area and National Flying Competitions too many times to number.

 

 

As past Chairman and Secretary of the Instructor Council of the Royal New Zealand Aero Club he has made major contributions to instructor techniques and to several RNZAC Instructor Seminars.

 

 

This very full and dedicated career, serving General Aviation and in particular Sport Aviation, Aero Clubs and pilots covering 30 years.

 

Craig Nairn – Manager of NMIT students

Craig is a B category flight instructor and has been employed by Air New Plymouth since 2007. Craig did all his flight training at Air New Plymouth. Craig also looks after the Hawera Aero Club in the weekends.

 

Matt Wells – Manager of International students

Matt is a B category flight instructor and has been employed by Air New Plymouth since 2009. He is an aerobatic, multi engine, instrument and night instructor and also flies charter and air ambulance operations. Matt did all his flight training at Air New Plymouth.
